Janelle Jones – Chief Economist, U.S. Department of Labor

In recognition of International Day of the Youth, Janelle Jones, chief economist at the department of labor recorded this video in support of a new deal for youth.

Janelle is the first Black woman to serve as the Chief Labor Economist for the Department of Labor, leading the departments research and initiatives. As Janelle says, we don’t want to see another economic recovery until everyone truly recovers. We have to invest in preparing youth for tomorrow’s economy and work to dismantle the obstacles to economic stability and security that much harder to overcome.

Thank you, Janelle for your support of the changemakers and we look forward to working with you to realize our demands for a more just world.

The New Deal for Youth Policy Platform advances radical and interconnected policy ideas that transform current systems, and that center racial, gender, and social justice. Our policies seek to redefine whose expertise, experiences, and systems of knowledge are valued, understanding that young people not only deserve a seat at the decision-making table, but that we can also shake the table and create the menu.
